SS's HONORS and AWARDS STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT!
At Sera Schools, our vocal cirriculum offers 5 unique levels of ribbon awards, which students can earn divided into two categories, Classical and Non-Classical tracts. Each award level corresponds with each section of music book a student is currently learning.**After successful completion of all ribbon levels, students continue with appropriate standard repertoire. Keep up the great work as you work your way toward your next achievement level!
Classical Tract
Curriculum goals will focus upon five primary components of vocal technique (posture/respiration, phonation, resonant tone production, diction/pronunciation, expression), with varying emphasis placed upon specific techniques, based upon the student’s age and ability level.
Special attention is given to matters of vocal range/tessitura and physical/vocal endurance, especially with pre-pubescent students. Just the Facts Theory and Practical Singing Tutor for All Voices are used throughout the curriculum.
Listed vocal objectives must be demonstrated through PST and/or repertoire.
Non-Classical Tract
Each of skill level objectives must be demonstrated in an appropriate fashion with acquisition of song repertoire. Non-classical literature will focus upon English and/or native language literature and may incorporate repertoire in Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, etc. and may include selections from the standard classical repertoire as determined and assigned by the instructor.
The curriculum for non-classical vocal training is available to teens through adults and its theory curriculum (Just the Facts) is concurrent with coinciding classical levels. Curriculum goals will focus upon five components of vocal technique (posture/respiration, phonation, resonant tone production, diction/pronunciation, expression), with varying emphasis placed upon specific components of vocal technique, based upon the student’s age and ability level.
Special attention is given to matters of vocal range/tessitura and physical/vocal endurance, especially with pubescent students. Students under the age of 13 must complete age-appropriate Folk Song and/or Singer’s Handbook Levels from the Classical Track before moving into this curriculum.
