Fort Collins Recital/Performances
SS's Recital Information
All recitals are free and open to the public.
Sera Schools hosts 2 recitals each year, the Christmas/Winter Recital & the Spring Recital. Participation in these recitals is highly recommended but not required. Recitals are a great opportunity for Sera Schools students to display a semester of hard work and ultimately a celebration and recognition of the culmination of this work. We also encourage and invite all family members and friends to attend these unique evenings.
Recitals also include performances by some of our highly trained and talented faculty as an encouragement to Sera Schools students and inspiration of the level that they can one day achieve.
Recital Format
Students should arrive to each recital 15-30 minutes prior to the listed invitation starting time. Upon arrival, students should report to their instructor to go over any last minute details and reminders. Guitar students should bring their guitars to the stage to be placed into the guitar stands and prepared for their performance.
Students are to be seated with their parent/guardian prior to their performance & after their performance. Once the recital begins, we request that all students please sit quietly not engaging in conversation or play with their neighbors. It is important that each student listens for their name and if feasible follow along in the program in order to know when they will be performing.
Once the student hears his/her name called they will enter stage left, promptly bow to the crowd, and then begin their piece. At completion of their piece, each student will bow once again and then exit stage right. Student who are under the age of 13 are encouraged to go and sit with their parents/family after their performance.
All students need to memorize their recital pieces for the performance presentation. Students will be performing either with their entire class, or by themselves (instructor will discuss & prepare in class). Students are to enter stage left and exit stage right. Each student is asked to acknowledge the audience applause with a bow both before & after each piece is performed.
Awards/Recognition
The night of each Sera Schools recital includes a presentation to recognize students who have earned level awards for completion or partial completion of their perspective books since the previous recital as well as Sera's Straight A's Club students. If your student does not receive recognition on the evening of the recital this is not a reflection of their performance only a circumstance of timing. Typically each student will receive recognition for their achievements in their weekly class.
